FINDING THE PERFECT APARTMENT IN NEW YORK IS....
Thursday, August 5, 2010 Finding the perfect apartment in New York {or even something that just resembles decent} is a full time job. I'm glued to Craigslist and the refresh key. Wild excitement as a new posting appears quickly transforms to downright disappointment on finding that the bathtub is in the kitchen {really, is this normal?} the bed is actually {a very comfortable} pull out sofa or the studio sublet, which on first impressions appears unalloyed perfection, small print reveals a 30 year old male comes with. I think I've had it good too long.
Yesterday, after finding the perfect East Village exposed brick-wall studio going for a song, and, after many {desperate} emails and no reply, we gave up and wandered Central Park in the heat, and remembered the reason we came here.
Then we went and looked at a tiny box apartment where you had to hang your computer out the window to get internet signal. Thankfully, after we wandered the streets of East Village, found amazing little shops, ate good food, we remembered the reason we came here.

So you MOVE to NY, I thought you were just there on holiday, or for buisiness reasons. And I love your shoes, as well as the fact that you are wearing the same shoes in several outfits.
Don't give up!! The perfect apartment is waiting for you somewhere -- just be sure you read all of the fine print :)
Love your new Mulberry!!

I love the simplicity of your outfit and I know what you mean about apartment hunting. I'm sure you'll come across a good one very soon. Good luck!
love your outfit. Keep it up! finding a great apartment in larger US cities is like finding a needle in the haystack...but you will find that gem with patience.
good luck!
Lucy, you look amazing and I am so happy for you being in NYC. Is it for work? What do you do exactly? I may be there for fashion week and would love if we could meet up sometime for coffee or something! Good luck finding a place! xo
I love the look and summer vibe of this outfit. I'm on the other side of the country, where somehow, neither spring nor summer has appeared.
I'm with you on the headache of the apartment hunt! Moving to San Francisco has resulted in looking at cute apartments {in shady neighborhoods}, Victorian sublets {with parking spots nearly the same cost as the rent}, and leases that get snapped up before you can even refresh the window. And the studios are 285 square feet.
Oh well. Happy hunting!
Oh my god... The things I have to look forward to ay? oh no!!!! Hope it works out for you soon hun x
very cute outfit!!

LOVE your outfit! Just perfect :)
So glad to see that you are in the Big Apple! It took my family over a month to find the perfect apartment when we moved to the NYC area many years ago...but the search was worth it!
Love your outfit... so neat to see those lovely shoes walking the sidewalks of NYC after so recently being in Australia!

Ahhhhh Sportsgirl! How I miss Australia.. I studied in Newcastle for 6 months in 2008 and I've been contemplating selling my kidney to go back. I had perfected my fake accent well enough to fool the locals.. and then lost it on the flight home being around fellow nasal, banal sounding Americans. What a patriot I am eh?
I'll have to thank B. Jones for introducing me to your blog.. right after I steal both your wardrobes.
