NOT LONG TO GO

I met Vanessa Jackman at fashion week when she was taking amazing street style photos and I was reporting for Glossy Magazine. We bonded over a shared love of London {and a mutual dismay Brisbane restaurants take last orders at 9pm!}

We narrowly missed each other recently in London {she's been jet setting to various fashion weeks- watch out for the photos!} and she posted today a really nice and encouraging note on her blog wishing me good luck for the move.

The decision to still move to New York following a family bereavement has been one of the hardest, and possibly selfish, I think I've ever made. Leaving behind family, friends and familiarity is a massive step. Despite a mind full of what ifs, I'm going and I'm {apprehensively} excited about it too. To quote Mark Twain {one of his many gems} "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do."

PS. And if you hear of any fashion-related jobs (styling/writing/photography) let me know! The search is killing me... who's going to hire me 5 months out? But need a visa!! :S

Perfect style!

Moving away from family and friends to start a new life and chapter elsewhere, I can relate to some of the challenges and emotions you must be going through. It is extremely exciting, tough, fulfilling and perhaps even selfish, but I'm betting that hopefully, it will be worthwhile as well.

I posted a recent entry on my blog about moving as well, and found myself relying on a familiar quote to the one you've used. Maybe things won't work out. Ah, but what if it does?

G'luck!

Taking such a huge leap of faith must be terrifying, but the potential rewards are worth the risk! Such an exciting time for you - new city, new challenges. I'm envious!
I hope you'll still be blogging from NYC...?

I absolutely agree, I did the same thing 10 years ago when I decided to leave FL for NYC. I miss everyone terribly but I can't imagine what my life would of been like if I hadn't gone.

Good Luck :)

Wishing you the best with your move!! Maybe I'm a little biased b/c I'm from New York, but it's an amazing city, even if you're not here to stay! And I love that Mark Twain quote! Good luck!

I love your blog. I think it has just that bit of a twist to be original, and that's something bloody necessary on the internet. Succes with the blog!
