Trousers; not for boys
Friday, April 9, 2010 I have a thing for trousers. Peg top, harem, high waist, tailored, belted and pocketed, I like to believe they bring a certain effortless chic to an outfit. So it was with particular delight and notions of a certain Dries look that I recently uncovered these ones in a thrift shop.
Unfortunately my boyfriend doesn't appear to share the same trouser sentiment. Whilst I look in the mirror and conjure visions of long legged Chloe girls galloping down the runway in soft silk caramel, he takes a different view and judging by a recent observation I'm guessing his is more grandma with her slacks on than wholesome highlights from Hannah Macgibbon.
I'm afraid tailored trousers might belong within the same realm as many of Carrie Bradshaw's outfits do; venerated and emulated by women worldwide yet remain completely stupefying to your average male. On that note, I'm off to hunt for my latest vision, a nice pair of khaki high waisted ones, bet the boyf will love them.

Lovely outfit! I like the trousers, I would like to find something similar.

Couldn't help but laugh at this! It really is funny what girls think looks cool vs. what guys think of the same item -- i.e. ask your boyfriend what he thinks of harem shorts :)
I -- as a girl -- really like your outfit!

Whatever, your trousers are WICKED. And definitely reminiscent of Hannah MacGibbon's designs. I wish I had them.
Great trousers! I have some back ones that are very similiar to these - I love the length, and they are very comfy! Gorgeous Mulberry bag too.
Thanks for the lovely comment, and I have seen the September Issue. Funnily enough, I was asking people about it in my previous post!

I am so glad you said this! My bf just said the same thing about a Chloe rendition I did this weekend. I tried to make a look with things I already owned and he said I looked like I belonged in Star Wars (prob cause of the cape/poncho). However, your look is exactly what I love and I wish I owned the the trousers and the Mulberry! I am adding you to my blogroll already since I adore this.
I love these trousers and recently bought a very similar pair at an op shop! Not sure what the boy thinks about them but I think if the boys had their way we would all be wearing short skirts with a bit of cleavage and spend all our time torn between the bedroom and the kitchen... haha. girls definitely dress for girls!
Absolutely love your blog!
Love your outfit! Congrats for being spotted by Tommy!
Hi there! Have picked up on your blog due to RAFW last week and am doing a bit a back-reading... I love pants too. Any type...! Op shops do tend to have great ones - high waisted, cropped and fall just right!
Looking forward to more lovely words and pics!
