Double Denim?
Wednesday, October 13, 2010 I've always been a little wary of the double denim trend. To get it right, you have to channel Alexa; faded shades of denim paired with beachy hair and a slick of youthful insouciance. Get it wrong and you are in Jeremy Clarkson territory circa 1990, mid rise blue wash fashioned with a middle age beer gut and unfounded arrogance.
Whatever your inclination; double denim is in, given blessing last season by labels like Chloe and Twenty8Twelve. Therefore making a huge number of the double denim wearing population fashionable by default.
I found this denim shirt in H&M, and for fear of resembling that Britney and Justin denim disaster at the American Music Awards, I think I'll stick to mixing it with prints for now.

I gave it a go earlier in summer with dark blue skinny jeans from Topshop and a much lighter (like your shirt) shirt tunic from Zara. It wasn't as bad as I thought because of the colour difference, but I didn't really go back to the look after that. It just felt a bit wrong...and too circa 1990.
Love this look! That skirt looks so sweet with the denim shirt and gold shoes!
I don't know if I'm ready for the double denim trend either. Lovely outfit. Have a nice day!
This skirt has an amazing cut & I love it paired with denim!

i really love the denim on denim trend. sometimes it can go terribly wrong but if you wear it with confidence it looks great! you can't go wrong mixing denim and prints!
ps: your blog is my newest favorite. i love your vintage inspired style and honest writting. very inspiring!! ;)
Denim on denim is tricky, but I love what you've done with your outfit here. Denim and prints is always a good way to go. LOVE your nail polish btw.
Ah, this is a long, long way from Brit-Justin denim. :)

great combinations !

Yeah, I just can't get into the double denim trend either. Love it on some people and I "get it" but I just can't do it. Maybe because the town I live in has a very western-wear influence. I can't really even bring myself to wear a denim jacket without feeling like a country music groupie, lol!
You look great, love the combo!
Love your outfit here, you combined these pieces so beautiful!

On you, looks absolutely incredible!!! ;)

I recently got a denim shirt too and I was having a hard time finding things to wear it with except black pants, but after seeing your outfit I said, denim shirts go great with pattern skirts. I also got some inspiration from Alicia over at Cheetah is the New Black. She wore her denim shirt with a leopard skirt recently.
I'm sitting out the double denim trend, too. I love this look though! With a sweet skirt and a classic belt the chambray shirt totally works!
