A perfect afternoon
Today I finally gave in and bought myself a SLR (want to pay for this space, Canon??) and subsequently spent the afternoon taking photographs of everything in the house.

All that glitters
Backstage at Prada, Mulberry, Just Cavalli, Julien Mcdonald, Richard Nicoll, Topshop fall 2010. Images photographed by Boo George, courtesy of the Love blog
This season we experienced accessibility overload. Shows were streamed live over the internet, journalists twittered as it happened and bloggers posted reviews within minutes of the last walk.
Burberry Prorsum made history by simultaneously preselling outerwear online. A bold step towards closing the gap between the initial desire for a garment and the purchase, which of course, is what great fashion marketing is all about.
This season fashion week was laid out for everyone to watch and dissect; the presentation, communication, selling and intimate backstage moments. Will the availability of such information take away the unobtainable glint of fashion week? And with designers clambering over each other to be the most innovative in this evolving digital revolution, what can we expect of next season?

Monday
Gold skirt, Forever New
White T shirt, Country Road
Blazer, vintage find
Gold purse, vintage
Belt, vintage
Rings, Sportsgirl
Shoes, Target
I had a really good charity shop rummage on Saturday and found this vintage Cue blazer. Saving up to move to New York means I am on a tight budget (I'm getting pretty tired of pasta and sauce) I'm also pretty bad at the see it/ want it/ buy it thing but at least thrift shopping doesn't bankrupt you!

Saturday
Silk dress
Cardigan, H&M
Belt, vintage
Socks, cut up tights from Witchery
Ring, Sportsgirl
Shoes, Topshop
The S/S 10 & A/W 10/11 catwalks featured a whole lot of socks under shoes and despite hunting for the perfect pair, couldn't find any so destroyed a pair of beautiful cashmere knit tights instead. Anyway, the effect is still there, and I didn't get quite as many stares as I thought I might when I wore these out on Saturday morning.

I want....
Acne, Mulberry, TSE Cashmere, Tibi, A Detacher
An air of wearability prevailed throughout many of the New York shows this season. Whether to stay ahead designers are focusing on wearable pieces accessible to a wider market or because this season dictates a return to simplicity, I don't know. I guess now more than ever it is important for designers to build collections with resonance for their followers.

backstage
Backstage shots at Marc by Marc Jacobs by Katie Hillier for the Love blog. These images are great as you tend to forget what is needed behind the scenes to create amazing shows. After seeing this collection I got it into my head I need a military jacket.

Une Fille Un Style
Giovanna Battaglia, Vogue Paris
This feature is from 2008, but the shots look as though they could have been taken this season- her style is so classic and timeless- I have rather bad wardrobe envy.

It's not what you wear...
sources: Grazia daily, The Sartorialist, Street Peeper
It’s no surprise the communications revolution coupled with
an economic crisis has caused such a capacious shift in the fashion media
landscape and changed the way in which we receive, or demand, information. The
undeniable success of street style blogs, apart from their appeal to the inner curtain twitcher in all of us, lies in their ability to translate and broadcast trends
instantly. After all, the shows at fashion week are only half the excitement;
the rest is in what all the fabulous people are wearing.

Jeans, Gap
Silk top, charity shop
Jacket, vintage
Bag, Mulberry
Scarf, good old M&S
Shoes, Tony Bianco
It rained today, which totally threw me considering I live in a country where it rains for about 0.02 days a year. I ignored the fact it was still about 30c and 100% humidity and chose jeans and a jacket- and roasted. I know everyone in the northern hemisphere is probably craving a bit of sunshine right now but there's something to be said for layering up on a cold day!

San Telmo
San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina
There's nothing quite so dull as looking through someone else's meaningless travel photographs whilst they yap on about places you haven't been to, like I'm doing now. But San Telmo markets in Buenos Aires is absolute overdose to the soul if you love anything with history, antiques, tango in the street and steak, I took these photos when I was there a while back.

Not too late for a New Years resolution...
It's hard to find time for inspiration and drawing when you work eight hours a day, spend two commuting and chuck in all the other extraneous crap like cleaning and ironing , but this year I am determined I will draw more, make more, love more, live fully and be inspired.

A book worth a look
A book by Lisa Smith and Christopher Morris that looks beyond the tourist clichés and exposes a creative community of well-known local designers, media, restaurateurs, retailers and music artists- and features some beautiful photos.
